Thinking Like a Magician

"Currency Exchange" - December 2008

Canadian Bill to U.S. Bill

I had a great trip to Oregon last weekend. A really great client flew me out to perform at their holiday party. I did close-up magic during the cocktail hour, then my stage show after dinner. They produced a first-class event for their staff and guests and I was honored to be a part of a truly professional production.
An extra bonus of the trip was that I got to spend time with some of my old friends. My wife and I lived in Oregon for 5 years and we have missed some very special people since we left 5 years ago. It was wonderful to catch up with friends and loved ones as the holiday season approached. I got to talk magic with my friend Ray Hyman (a renowned skeptic and psychologist), have an incredible meal with Matt and Janel Bennett at my favorite restaurant (Matt and Janel run Sybaris - a truly special bistro) and visit with my surrogate grandparents Tom and June Staley. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have so many special people in my life and I wish the same for you.

Learn the signs of a heart attack -

I came home for the holidays this Saturday and my Mom had heartburn. It got worse over the next few hours and she had pressure in her chest and weak arms and legs. After consulting WebMD she called her doctor, who told her to call 911. It turns out that she was having a heart attack. It certainly didn't look like what we see in the movies. Please take a few minutes and look over the warning signs on WebMD.
Mom's doing fine and is on the road to recovery, but we'd have gotten her to the hospital sooner if we'd have recognized the symptoms. Go get educated!
